Best practices for board use and maintenance
Your complete jetboard package
Radinn’s complete jetboard package consists of one boardbag, one board model with an already installed jetpack, and one battery.
For every complete board, you’ll also receive a charger and an accessories case, with one wireless hand controller and hand controller charger, a pair of fins, the Radinn user guide handbook, a water bottle, and a board leash.
When purchasing the jetboard, you will have the chance to customize your jetpack performance and battery range. If you select standard settings upon purchase, you can always upgrade the battery to Extended range and the jetpack to PRO performance in the Radinn mobile app later on.
While not included in the package, we highly recommend you always wear a helmet, and a life vest or impact vest while riding the board. Also be sure to have a whistle on you at all times to call attention in case of an emergency.
Charging the jetboard battery
Before charging the jetboard battery, it’s important to make sure that the battery has had time to cool off after use.
Once you ensure it’s cooled, you can connect the battery to the charging cable. It may take some time to initiate, but eventually red and green LED lights will appear.
A few moments later you will hear 2 to 3 clicking sounds and the LED lights will turn red, indicating that the battery is properly charging.
When the battery is fully charged, the LED lights will revert back to red and green.
Inserting the battery into the board
Start by removing the rubber connector protectors from both the battery and the board.
Use the side handles to carry the battery to the board. To place the battery into its proper slot in the center of the board, hold the battery’s front and rear ends.
Note that the battery is designed to fit securely in place and some extra pressure from your palm may be needed.
Once the battery is in place, turn all of the lock rings clockwise. Try to apply pressure around each lock at a time as you turn them into place.
The battery is properly connected to the board once all 3 lock rings are tightened.
Note that, when properly connected, the battery should not be loose in any way. If you suspect that the battery is not locked correctly, DO NOT take the board into the water.
Charging the hand controller
Ensure that the inductive charging plate is active and the center of the hand controller, which is between LED lights 4 and 5, is correctly positioned in the center of the charger.
As the controller is being charged the LED lights will flash one at a time—starting at the bottom of the controller and moving upwards towards the throttle—indicating the amount of charge accordingly. When the last LED light at the top of the controller has stopped blinking, the controller is fully charged.
Be sure to remove the controller from the inductive plate after it’s fully charged. Also note that, if the controller hasn’t been used in a while, it may take some time for the first blinking LED light to appear.
To check the level of charge of the hand controller, make sure that the magnet key of the board leash is NOT connected to its fitting on the back board. Then press down on the controller’s throttle. The blinking LED lights indicate the controller’s level of charge.
Pairing and using your hand controller
To pair your hand controller, first attach the magnet key of the board leash into its fitting on the back of the board.
Then, press the controller throttle all the way down for up to 5 seconds until the LED lights begin to flash. When the lights stop flashing, the controller is paired with the board.
The hand controller adjusts the speed and acceleration of the jetboard via an easy-to-use thumb throttle. Apply pressure to go faster, and release pressure to slow down.
When the magnet key is connected to its fitting on the back of the board, the jetpack is on and the steady LED lights show the state of charge of the board battery.
In order to ride the jetboard, the magnet key—attached to your leg via the velcro board leash—must be connected into its fitting. Should you fall off the board while riding, the board leash will pull the magnet key off and the board will automatically stop.
When the magnet key is disconnected from its fitting on the back of the board, the jetpack is off and the blinking LED lights show the state of charge of the hand controller.
Jetpack dry test
Before bringing the board into the water, you can test the jetpack on land to make sure everything is working properly.
First, pair the hand controller by connecting the magnet key of the board leash into its fitting on the back of the board.
Then, press the controller throttle all the way down for up to 5 seconds until the LED lights begin to flash.
When the lights go from flashing to steady, the controller is paired with the board. Continue to apply pressure to the throttle. When you do this, you should hear the hum of the jetpack start.
During the dry test, the jetpack will not go into full capacity since it can’t be cooled off by the water. When the board is in water, the jetpack will go into full capacity.
Removing the battery
Before removing the battery after your ride, use the side handles to tilt the jetboard and remove any excess water from inside the battery compartment.
Once you’ve drained the board, release the locks fully by turning them counter-clockwise.
Then, hold the front and rear ends of the battery, and lift the battery straight up. Be sure to keep it level while doing so.
Once the battery is removed, attach the rubber connector protectors back onto the board and the battery.
Take a towel and dry off any excess water that might be left in the battery compartment.
Maintaining the board after riding
Use the Radinn water bottle to rinse the board with fresh water, paying special care to rinse the jetpack cooling system and outlet.
Make sure to also inspect the jet tunnel and carefully remove any seaweed or foregin objects that may have become lodged during your ride.
Let the board dry out or use a towel to wipe it down before storing it back in the board bag. Be sure to never store the board with the battery inserted.
Maintaining the battery
Proper battery maintenance is crucial for the health and longevity of the hardware.
It is important to always charge the battery to approximately 50 to 70% before storing it (3 hours on Standard Charger / 1.5 hours on Speed Charger).
You should store the battery at room temperature (15–28 °C / 59–82 °F) in a place with dry air.
Be sure to NEVER store the battery inside the board, or to leave it connected to the charger.
Also, be sure to check and fully charge the battery before taking the board out for use.
If you purchased the speed-charger as an add on, we still recommend you use the standard charger as much as possible.
Finally, don’t forget that, to utilize the full potential of your Radinn Battery, we advise you run the "Battery Optimizer" feature after each ride.
